Best Start Peer Support Project

The Best Start Peer Support Project is an exciting new project run in partnership with Touchstone.  Delivered across South and East Leeds, the six week courses (2 hours per week) are open to those who are pregnant and their partners, and anyone who is the carer of a child up to age 2.  They are aimed at people who are feeling lonely and isolated or who need a boost to their self-confidence, as well as for people who are looking to learn new skills and think about what they want to do next.  After completing the course, there will be opportunities to join in with future Best Start groups as well as train to be a volunteer or offer peer support in their community.

The project offers –

  • Groups in South and East Leeds
  • Free crèche
  • Friendly, informal and welcoming space
  • Opportunities for further training, volunteering and to become community peer supporters

What group members have said about the Best Start Peer Support Project –

This is the first course I have ever stuck with, it just feels different.

I can’t tell you the difference it has made to me, it came at exactly the right time for me.
