Footsteps is for women whose children have to live with someone else. We offer a group and individual support where needed to women at any stage in their journey, whether their children are being cared for by someone else while an assessment takes place, or their children are now permanently in the care of someone else/ adopted.
Our groups are a safe and confidential space and our session topics have included identifying abusive relationships, managing stress and low mood, taking care of ourselves at difficult times and the impact of abuse on children. When group members would like to cover specific subjects, we often invite other organisations in such as the Red Cross, Leeds Mind and Health Trainers.
The project offers –
- City centre venue
- Support with transport and snacks are provided
- Safe, supportive space where women share their experiences around court, contact, assessments etc.
What group members have said about Footsteps –
There’s so much support here, I love everyone… it’s changed my life.
I think Footsteps is an amazing group and it has made me the better person I am today.
I have a better understanding of what my life was like, I’m so much more happier and confident. I lost my two beautiful children, group is amazing support…VERY understanding! I don’t feel a failure any more. I feel loved and supported, I realise there was a way out and that I could have asked for help, it’s only because of this group that I know how to be happy and how to be in a safe relationship.
