Women's health Matters

Black and Minority Ethnic Women

WHM's work with Black and Minority Ethnic women in Leeds includes providing support, information, advice and promoting health awareness.

This is done by:

  • Providing appropriate language support in a religiously and culturally sensitive way.

  • Supporting women using appropriate volunteers.

  • Running groups and drop-ins in East Leeds, including Harehills and West Leeds including Bramley.
BME women often face additional barriers when accessing services and information.

Some BME women will face a complexity of issues which affect their ability to access services.

BME women are more likely to take longer to get the help they need as their experiences of racism, discrimination, lack of English, isolation and/or traditions prove this to be true.

For up to date information on where and when the groups meet please contact Angela.
