Survivors' Voices: Domestic Abuse Awareness Training

Survivors' Voices: Domestic Abuse Awareness Training

Our Suvivors' Voices Domestic Abuse Awareness Training is a full-day, in-person session designed to equip professionals with the knowledge, tools and confidence to support victim-survivors of Domestic Violence and Abuse (DVA) in a compassionate and trauma-informed way.

This engaging and informative training has been co-produced and co-delivered with victim-survivors of DVA, ensuring their voices and experiences are at the heart of the session. Drawing from years of specialist work in the field, we share practical strategies and insights to help professionals improve their response and practice. â€‹â€‹

Who is this training for?

This course is ideal for any professional working with women and families, including those in social care, healthcare, education and community support settings. Participants should have some existing knowledge of DVA and be familiar with relevant policies and procedures within their role.

What will participants gain?

During the session, participants will:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of DVA, including less recognised forms of abuse and the additional vulnerabilities some individuals may face.

  • Learn about the typologies of abusers and the impact of DVA on victim-survivors

  • Explore the key changes introduced in the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.

  • Take part in discussions and guided reflections to deepen their understanding and build confidence in their practice.

  • Take away a range of practical resources, tools and risk assessment strategies that have been effective in identifying, recording and supporting those who experience DVA.

Why is this training important?

Research shows that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men will experience abuse in their lifetime, with many facing additional barriers when seeking support. By improving our knopwledge and developing practical strategies, you can make a lasting difference to those affected by DVA.
