Have you heard? We'll be walking 100km!
Updated: Aug 18, 2022
To raise awareness of the disadvantages and well-being struggles the women we support face, some of the Women’s Health Matters staff team will be walking a total of 100km in just three days! That's over 60 miles - the equivalent of walking from Leeds to Nottingham!
We purposefully chose this challenge as we wanted it to be a test for us, it couldn’t be something easy as we know that the women we support often face real struggles throughout their lives and to access much-needed support. This walk is intended to reflect how hard this can be, and the fact that life is often full of twists and turns and at times can be painful.
Our circular route will take us 100km around the outskirts of Leeds. We support women from all across the city of Leeds and surrounding areas, and wanted our walk to reflect not only this but also the distances the women travel to attend our sessions.
The best bit of our walk? The Big Give will match fund our campaign. This means that for every penny donated The Big Give will match it! We are aiming to raise £10,000, which will be doubled by The Big Give to a massive £20,000. These donations will go towards the core costs of running our groups, provide transport for women to attend groups, allow us to provide financial support in emergency situations, and a whole host of other things.
