Art of Her: A Creative Path to Healing

We're thrilled to announce Art of Her, an inspiring 8-week group Art Therapy programme designed specifically for young women aged 16-25, funded by The Pilgrim Trust. The project offers a unique opportunity to explore creativity, build connections, and nurture emotional well-being through the healing power of art delivered in a safe, women-only space.

As Project Lead Kate explains:

"I'm thrilled to present a unique group Art Therapy project within a safe, women-only space at Women's Health Matters. This initiative offers an incredible opportunity to nurture interpersonal connections and support collective healing for mental health."

What is Art of Her?

Art of Her is more than just an art class; it's a space where creativity meets self-discovery. Art therapy allows young women to express feelings that might be hard to put into words, providing a gentle and supportive outlet for emotions.

Over eight weeks, participants will work with a professional HCPC-registered Art Psychotherapist to explore their thoughts and emotions through creative activities. The sessions will foster personal growth and resilience while building a sense of community among women who may be facing similar challenges. They won't focus on artistic skill or creating a masterpiece; instead, the sessions are about using art as a tool to support healing, reduce stress, and build self-awareness.

Why Choose Art Therapy?

Art therapy is a safe and non-judgmental approach that helps people express themselves, offering a unique way to process emotions and explore mental health. For young women dealing with stress, anxiety, or trauma, art therapy provides a creative outlet to:

  • Reduce feelings of overwhelm or anxiety.

  • Explore thoughts and emotions in a new, freeing way.

  • Develop healthy coping strategies to support mental health.

What's Included?

Art of Her is designed to make creativity accessible and meaningful. Participants will receive:

  • Free weekly sessions with an experienced Art Psychotherapist.

  • High-quality art materials to help bring their ideas to life.

  • The chance to connect with others in a supportive and welcoming group setting.

  • The option to take their artwork home, creating a lasting reminder of their journey.

  • Refreshments to enjoy during sessions.

What We Aim to Achieve

Through Art of Her, we hope to offer more than just an enjoyable creative outlet. The programme is designed to:

  • Provide a safe space to process and express emotions that are difficult to verbalise.

  • Build self-esteem, self-awareness, and emotional resilience.

  • Foster connections between participants, creating a sense of community and mutual support.

  • Encourage personal growth and reflection through the creative process.

A Welcoming Space for Young Women

We understand how important it is to feel supported, especially when working through mental health challenges. Art of Her creates an environment where young women can come together, explore their creativity, and take meaningful steps towards emotional well-being.

If you or someone you're supporting could benefit from this programme, we'd love to hear from you. The sessions are free, but spaces are limited, so we encourage early referrals.

Finally, we'd like to say thank you to The Pilgrim Trust for funding Art of Her.
